Saint Paul, Minnesota
This was a project with a low budget. A very low budget. Very happy with their neighborhood near Como Park in St Paul, the owners liked their house but needed more space for a growing family. EcoDEEP helped determine how to best change their inefficient 1 1/2 story Cape Cod home into a green, energy efficient, slightly larger home that would fit their family and their neighborhood with a price tag they could afford. The handy clients did much of the work themselves
Off came the roof to add a full second story containing bright and cheery bedrooms, bath and a play area for the kids. We renovated the first floor and placed a small addition at the back to incorporate a revamped kitchen and dining area. Energy efficient, green features abound - like lots of insulation, new windows, cork floors, low voc paints and finishes, recycled polished concrete countertops and high efficiency mechanical systems.
What were they left with? A new house that works for their young and growing family in the neighborhood they love. Mom is happy. Dad is happy that mom is happy. Wine bottles for light fixtures. And the kids get treats.
